Gather Cookbook

BACKGROUND: Gather is a cookbook that consists of recipes organized by season. It’s target audience is the novice to intermediate home cook who enjoys entertaining. My aim was to create a cookbook that will be timeless and full of recipes that people will use throughout the year. 

DESIGN PROCESS: I chose the typeface Shree Devangari 71 as the primary typeface, as I felt that it was simple, elegant and easy to read. Each of the four sections of the book has a chapter opener featuring the recipes in that section. For each chapter opener, I chose a color palette that reflects that time of year. The recipe pages use a three-column format, with the ingredients on the left and the instructions on the two right columns. 

DESIGN SOLUTION: The layout is clean and makes the cookbook easy to use. The focus on seasonal ingredients is made clear with the use of photographs.
